Thanet Colts unbeaten start to the season came to an end having gone unbeaten for the previous 11 games. The first half was the stuff of nightmares for Colts as they struggled to get the ball down and play the football that has been so common this season, basic mistakes, rushed passes and panic crept in and before they knew it they found themselves being outmuscled and outplayed, going in 4-0 down at half time and with very little positives to take from the half as Hawks stamped their dominance on the game.

At half time the boys were asked to show some sort of reaction and to their credit they did but had unfortunately left too much to do. A good move down the left saw Jake B swung a cross in to the box and with both Liam and Charlie putting pressure on the ball was spilled to Liam to smash home a reward for his persistence. Colts then grabbed another quickly after Finley played the ball in to Jake E who hit an unstoppable half volley in to the top corner to get Colts within 2 and give them some hope. Poor marking in the box then cost Colts as the Hawks striker was left unmarked at the back post to increase the lead. Colts continued to battle and got another goal back when Jake E played Leo through on goal and he held off the Hawks defender and calmly slotted past the oncoming keeper to again pull Colts back to within two goals of their opponents. Finally Colts had found their rhythm and started to play some good football but were then hit with a sucker punch as Hawks grabbed another on the break to make sure Colts couldn’t claim a famous comeback. Credit to the boys though as they didn’t give up and came close on several occasions to getting more goals back but a mixture of the Hawks keeper and the woodwork kept them at bay.

Man of the match went to Jake E who continued to try and drive forward and create opportunities for Colts throughout.
